The Ripple Effect

In life, you might feel like there is so much that is out of your control, but there are always parts of your day you can control. What’s more, each small action you take can have a ripple effect.

You may think of a ripple effect as changing a perfectly still body of water with one single action — for example, tossing a pebble into a pond. The energy from the pebble is felt throughout the entire body of water, creating ripples. In this example, the ripples or changes to the body of water are much bigger than the pebble itself, proving even the smallest change can transform everything.

This tiny pebble analogy can be applied to your daily life.

Of course, you will inevitably face challenges and bad moments in life, and while you cannot control what happens to you, you do have the ability to control how you respond. This means that when a bad moment or a challenge present itself, you get to decide what your next move will be. This is where the pebble comes in.

Do not let the bad moments overshadow the good. Remember to toss that tiny pebble of positivity into your pond daily, and let it create a ripple. You can do this by soaking up life’s joyful moments, like reading a good book, watching a sunset, taking a walk or spending time with loved ones. You have the ability to create ripples by doing things that bring you joy each day.

These ripples have the power to reach your family, friends, team and community. When you create a ripple, the impact can be instant, delayed or unknown; regardless, it’s still there.

No matter what you face today, end your day better than you started it. Allow the positive moments to ripple through yourself and others.
